Antonio Galloni

Founder, Vinous

Antonio Galloni is the founder and CEO of Vinous, one of the world's most influential wine publications, for which he is also the lead critic covering the wines of Bordeaux, California, Italy and Champagne. Since founding Vinous in 2013, Galloni led Vinous' acquisitions of Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar and Delectable, which made the company unique in the wine industry in its ability to offer both professional reviews from the world's top critics and the perspectives from hundreds of thousands of wine consumers. Galloni also leads Vinous' pioneering efforts to map the vineyards of California with renowned cartographer Alessandro Masnaghetti. Prior to Vinous, Antonio was the lead critic of Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, which he joined having established himself as an influential wine writer through Piedmont Report, the first in-depth, English language journal solely focused on Italian wine. Galloni has an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and is a Berklee trained musician. When not tasting wines or leading his business, Galloni can be found shredding a guitar or keeping fit.

Bob Biale

Founder and Vineyard Manager, Robert Biale Vineyards

Born and raised in Napa, Robert (Bob) Biale is the son and grandson of Napa Valley grape growers. Working the farm was an integral part of growing up, but after high school he left the ranch to explore other horizons. While studying engineering at San Diego State Bob served in the Navy Reserves as a Search & Rescue Air Crewman. Before graduating he served as a lay missionary for the Catholic Church in Papua New Guinea for three years. Upon returning he finished his bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies/Social Justice at Dominican College of San Rafael and married his wife Wendy, a fellow Dominican Penguin. However, it wasn’t long before the family vineyards beckoned him to return. In addition, a temporary harvest job at Beringer in 1989 turned into a 10-year post in the cellar. In 1991, Bob and his partners Dave Pramuk, Al Perry and father Aldo Biale launched Robert Biale Vineyards, where he continues as president and manager of vineyard operations and grower relations. Bob is also past president of Zinfandel Advocates and Producers, a past board member of the Napa County Farm Bureau, and is a current board member of the Historic Vineyard Society. He is an active member of St. Apollinaris Catholic Church and various local community organizations and charities. With their kids Alex and Michela grown and living on their own, Bob and Wendy enjoy traveling and taking long walks, which helped them complete the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in 2017.

Tim Colla

Winemaker, Saintsbury

Tim Colla discovered his passion for winemaking while traveling through Argentina during a post-high school gap year. After completing his studies in Fine Art and Chemistry at Columbia University, he returned to Argentina to start his career in wine with a harvest in Mendoza. This was quickly followed by a move to Napa Valley where he worked back-to-back harvests at Chappellet and Seavey Vineyards before landing in 2010 at Saintsbury.

Working as the Enologist at Saintsbury was Tim’s first experience with Pinot Noir and he immediately fell for this enigmatic, and sometimes ornery, grape variety. In 2013 he was promoted to Associate Winemaker and in 2015 became the lead Winemaker at Saintsbury.
When not walking vineyards with his wife Rachel, son Felix, daughter Marigold, and dog Poppy, he enjoys spending his time surfing, cooking with friends, and collecting old motorcycles.

Jennifer Williams

Winemaker, Arrow&Branch

One of the rising stars of Napa Valley winemaking, Jennifer Williams, was named Winemaker for Arrow&Branch in April 2011. Jennifer takes the reigns at Arrow&Branch. After years of working with and learning from legendary winemakers such as Rosemary Cakebread, Francoise Peschon and the Novak family, Jennifer now brings her outstanding talents and experience to Arrow&Branch.

In 2002, Williams joined Araujo and Spottswoode as a harvest intern, splitting her time between these two great winemaking estates. At Spottswoode, Jennifer was drawn to the philosophy of organic and sustainable farming, which Tony Soter had introduced in 1985. Following harvest, she joined their team full time, working under guru David Abreu in the fields and Rosemary Cakebread in the winery. In 2004, with a deeper understanding of the estate vineyard, she took over as Vineyard Manager and was Spottswoode's Winemaker from 2006 to 2011.

Genevieve Janssens

Director of Winemaking, Robert Mondavi Winery

I believe in the words of Mr. Mondavi: "Find a job you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life."

After receiving her National Diploma of Enology 1974, Genevieve returned to her family's vineyards in Corsica and France, which she managed from 1974 to 1977. Concurrently, she also owned and operated her own enology laboratory in Provence and served as consulting enologist to many French chateaux in the mid-seventies.

Drawn to the Robert Mondavi Winery's philosophy in winemaking and winegrowing, Genevieve moved to the Napa Valley in 1978. From 1978 - 1979, she fully absorbed this philosophy, working at the Robert Mondavi Winery as a lab enologist and an assistant enologist. Deeply interested in the winemaking revolution taking hold in the state, Genevieve continued exploring California for the next decade, holding several consulting positions.

Genevieve became director of production at Opus One Winery in 1989. Then, in 1997, she came full circle as the director of winemaking at the Robert Mondavi Winery. In 2000, she helped implement the To Kalon Project, the winery's first major renovation since it was founded in 1966.

For Genevieve, carrying on the legacy of her beloved mentor, the late Robert Mondavi, is both a joy and an honor. "With our To Kalon Cellar finished and the new vineyard projects underway, this is an exciting time for the winery, and for me," she says. "I am proud to be the torchbearer of Mr. Mondavi's vision."
