Premiere Napa Valley Special: Embracing Collaboration in Winemaking with Doug Shafer
Napa Valley is a place built by pioneers, visionaries and artisans who stop at nothing to cultivate wines of the highest quality. The region's commitment to quality is not the domain of a single winemaker or winery, but rather the product of a culture of collaboration and camaraderie woven into the fabric of the community by the preceding generations.
Almost from the beginning of the 1800s, winemakers traded knowledge (and often tractors and equipment), helping each other to create better and better wines. The names we recognize today — Krug, Crabb, Niebaum, Beringer, de Latour, Martini, Tchelistcheff and Mondavi, to name a few — collectively laid the foundation for the close-knit winemaking community for which Napa Valley is known.
Join Doug Shafer to explore Napa Valley's culture of collaboration as he interviews a trio of winemakers to uncover what they have learned from their mentors and how the valley is being shaped today to benefit tomorrow's winemakers.
