Premiere Napa Valley Session with Jeb Dunnuck: First Look at 2020 Vintage Wines
Napa’s newest vintage is indeed on the way and, despite the challenges, the 2020 Vintage will not be absent from the history book. Please join JebDunnuck.com’s founder, Jeb Dunnuck, and a panel of Napa Valley winemakers, to go through the 2020 growing season and discuss the vintage’s challenges and successes, as well as take a sneak peek at what you can expect from these young wines.
The 2020 season will be remembered for factors beyond the normal measurements. Napa Valley experienced a warm, dry winter followed by late rains and a mild spring season that gave a great early start to the season. Wineries worked under extensive safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Summer brought cool mornings and warm days. Harvest was interrupted by two wildfires as we turned to the fall. The white wine harvest started in early August, the wines are showing excellent development in cellars, reflecting the fine vintage year. While the red wine harvest will be smaller than usual, many wineries were able to move forward with red wines. While the 2020 Napa Valley harvest proved to be one of the most challenging in history, winemakers remain optimistic and committed to bottling wines of the highest quality. The story of this vintage will continue to unfold over the years to come.
